EDUCATION ASSISTANTS TERM (August 24th – June 25th, 2027)

The Montreal Lake Cree Nation Education Department is now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 School Year to fill the positions of the Educational Assistants (EA) at the Senator Allan Bird Memorial School. The role of an EA is to assist their program supervisors in the preparation and implementation of their specialized programming and to assist students with Individualized needs. EA’s will receive direction from their assigned Classroom Teacher and will report to the Student Support Services Coordinator and/or designate.

GENERAL DUTIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT WILL NOT BE LIMITED TO:

• Assisting in supervision duties and participate in school activities;
• Assisting children with their daily personal needs such as dressing, hygiene, meals and education program
• Be actively involved in implementing instructions given by the teacher.
• Help teachers to prepare activity centres, instructional materials, activity aids and general daily operating routines, encourage children to communicate and/or create in the art activities.
• Work in the classroom with small groups or individual students to review materials and to reinforce skills and concepts previously or currently taught.
• Maintain a good working relationship with Staff, Students, Community & Leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Education Assistant Certificate/Diploma, Educational Assistant Module Training and/or Early Childhood Certificate is preferred but not mandatory.
• Must be reliable, punctual, have strong organizational, interpersonal communication and time management skills and ability to concentrate efforts on priority projects.
• First Aid/CPR certificate (preferred but not required)
• Patience and understanding while managing difficult children.
• The ability to do heavy work is required in some assignments (ie; exerting up to up to 50 lbs. of force)

WAGE: Wage will be based on education and experience
